We have released CCTV of two men we are tracing in relation to an assault in Chesterfield. The incident happened when a man was walking along New Beetwell Street at about 5pm on Friday 24 April when he was attacked by two other men. The assault happened at the bottom of Chesterfield Library steps near to a bus stop. The victim, a 19-year-old man, was taken to hospital to be treated for injuries to his face that are not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing. Officers have now released a CCTV image of two men we would like to speak with in connection with the incident. One of the suspects was wearing a black cap with white writing on it, a black coat, blue jeans and dark coloured shoes. The other suspect was wearing an all grey tracksuit with the joggers having an area of darker colour in the middle. He appeared to have brown hair that is in a bowl cut style. There were a lot of members of the public around at the time of the incident and we are appealing for any witnesses to please come forward. Of particular interest is a man and a woman who were in a red car that was parked close to where the assault happened. We believe they could help us with our enquiries and we are directly appealing for them to make contact with us. Officers would also like to hear from motorists who were driving down New Beetwell Street around the time of the incident and may have dash cam footage.
